WHAT is R.O.C. and WHY IS IT THE BEST WAY
TO DETECT AN OVER-HEAT CONDITION
BEFORE A PROBLEM GETS SERIOUS?

RATE OF CHANGE (ROC) is the use of a rapidly changing temperatures (usually 3°C per minute) to trigger an alarm. One can readily see the advantage to using ROC because it can trigger an alarm well before a product damaging condition occurs. Anywhere from minus 40°C on up. The parameters of ROC can be defined in an instrument (see the Eurotherm 2416) or in the computer software.
