  5. Test Results

  5-1. Protectowire: It cannot detect the initial fire in the culvert

To activate Protectowire system, the heat from the fire reach to the ceiling area and the cable melts down by the heat.

* 1st Test: No response
* 2nd Test: No response

  .5-2. FTLD It detects and shows the current temperature in the culvert

It detects the increase of temperature at the initial stage of fire.

Early detects of temperature change in the culvert and shows the location and temperature value

* 1st Test: Temperature change detected in 3 minutes
* 2nd Test: Temperature change detected in 3 minutes

  5-3. Conclusion: With the special condition of structures inside the culvert, the tests revealed that gas and smoke filled the culvert first when fire starts.
Those ordinary fire alarm systems are not suitable for the environment of the culvert.

We conclude that FTLD is the best system for underground environment with its ability to monitor the temperature continuously.

With this early detection of temperature change we can prevent the loss from fire.
